About The Position

Eaton's EPG CHD EP Americas division is currently seeking an EHS Technician for its La Grange, NC facility. Eaton is dedicated to improving people’s lives and the environment with power management technologies that are more reliable, efficient, safe and sustainable. The EHS Technician supports environmental, health, safety and security at the La Grange site. Responsibilities include supporting EHS activities at the site, performing risk assessments, compliance inspections, design and/or implementation of EHS solutions; assist with internal reporting of EHS performance, communication of Federal, state and local regulatory requirements; closure of EHS and regulatory findings in a timely manner; and creating a strong Zero incident culture that engages employees throughout the site.

Requirements

  • HSD/ GED from an accredited institution
  • 3-6 months experience in basic EHS functions, such as include environmental, safety, health and security
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within a 50-mile radius of the La Grange, NC facility will be considered.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, bend, twist, grab, reach, stand, walk, push, pull use both hands to lift and lower materials, and perform all other essential duties with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Must show a commitment to working safely, basic leadership skills, and history of integrity.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations or environmental compliance
  • Understanding of problem-solving methodologies used in determining root-cause and corrective action
  • Solid ability to use Microsoft tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in EHS, Chemistry, Engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution
  • Six Sigma / Lean manufacturing experience
  • Manufacturing, Distribution, HR, Industrial hygiene, or Occupational health experience
  • OSHA 10 hour training certification

Responsibilities

  • Help deploy and improve EHS programs that apply to the facility
  • Create, coordinate and conduct EHS Training
  • Support EHS manager with developing and conducting EHS training
  • Participate and coordinate EHS Committee
  • Assist with addressing and correcting facility EHS issues (as identified through Safety Improvement Opportunities, Positive Interruptions, GEMBAs and monthly safety inspections)
  • Help manage and track plant EHS Hazard Identification programs (SIOs, PIs, monthly safety inspections)
  • Perform workstation risk assessments and help to maintain program through annual reviews. Includes management of change process.
  • Participate in EHS inspections and ensure all are documented as required by regulatory and Eaton requirements
  • Educate, monitor, and train employees in safe work procedures
  • Participate in the Ergo Committee including performing Ergo Assessments using Humantech analysis software
  • Help maintain the EHS Compliance calendar and conduct required activities to maintain facilities EHS compliance
  • Daily pre-use inspections (Guarding, PITs etc)
  • Monthly Inspections (eye wash, waste, ladders etc.)
  • Quarterly Inspections (Guarding, LOTO, etc.)
  • Annual Inspections (Harnesses, self-retracting lanyards, etc.)
  • Annual program requirements (ESWP, LOTO, Guarding)
  • Participate in the investigation of employee concerns, EHS incidents, Near Misses, SIOs and Gemba findings
  • Participate in weekly GEMBA walks
  • Assist with communicating Corporate EHSA initiatives and completing required actions
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
