EHS Technician

About The Position

The EHS Technician will be responsible for conducting regular EHS inspections, supporting worker's compensation investigations, and gathering data to ensure compliance with environmental permits and regulatory obligations. This role involves assisting in the management of the Carlex Environmental, Health & Safety Management System (EHS-MS), providing EHS training, and monitoring hazards. The technician will also contribute to the development of safety policies and procedures, and assist with facility design to ensure EHS recommendations are compliant. Additionally, the role supports EHS Managers with regulatory agency inspections.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Environmental Sciences, Health & Safety, Engineering, or equivalent preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in progressive EHS career or other equivalent experience required
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Maintain punctual and consistent attendance
  • Cooperate within teams to carry out tasks and responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
  • Ability to complete ongoing training and development

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular EHS inspections of facility operations to ensure they meet company and regulatory compliance. Document inspections and follow up on corrective action items.
  • Aid the site EHS function in Worker’s Compensation investigations, modified duties, reporting and return-to-work programs as needed.
  • Conduct sampling, data gathering, and analysis to support site environmental permits and regulatory obligations.
  • Establish, coordinate and/or support actions to ensure EHS regulatory requirements are being properly managed.
  • Assist with the development, deployment, and management of the Carlex Environmental, Health & Safety Management System (EHS-MS).
  • Assist in providing training to team members on EHS policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Assist with programs to monitor physical, biological, and chemical hazards and develop action plans to mitigate associated risks.
  • Assist with the preparation, maintenance, and updating of written safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the design and development of facilities, work areas and work procedures to ensure environmental, health and safety recommendations are compliant.
  • Aid Regional or Plant EHS Managers with all federal, state, and local regulatory agency inspections.
