About The Position

The Environmental Health & Safety Technician will assist in coordination and enforcement of safety and environmental initiatives.

Requirements

  • Equivalent of high school diploma and minimum 1-2 years related experience.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and prioritize work.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to interact with all internal team members enforcing various company requirements.
  • Knowledge of OSHA/WISHA regulations and requirements a plus.
  • Organized and responsible team player with excellent communication skills
  • Use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Diligent/hardworking
  • Position will require lots of walking and possible use of a respirator.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such a safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers of employees of organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must demonstrate concern and take actions to meet requirements and high standards of quality of both internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections of facility focusing on hazard identification
  • Perform inspections of facility safety equipment (Fire Extinguishers, Eye Wash & Safety Showers, Ladders, Forklifts, AEDs, First Aid Kits, Emergency Lighting, etc.)
  • Assist with the management of hazardous and nonhazardous waste (Empty haz-waste cans, light bulbs, batteries and e-waste contains and move to storage area)
  • Deliver chemicals to buildings and departments upon request
  • Manage safety data sheets and enter them into our chemical inventory
  • Identify trends and areas of concern or improvement.
  • Assist with Ergonomic Evaluations, Job Hazard Analysis, GHS chemical labeling, Shipments of hazardous waste, Assist with spill response to chemical leaks and spills, Assist with safety committee projects and safety upgrades to the facility.
  • Conducts internal safety audits and inspections.
  • Participates in monthly safety meetings.
  • Assists with various EHS continuous improvement initiatives or corrections as needed.
  • Required to maintain a safe and productive production facility
