About The Position

This role supports our on-site Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) operations, ensuring the safe handling, monitoring, and management of hazardous waste and chemicals. The position works closely with maintenance teams, department managers, and EHS leadership to uphold safety standards and maintain a compliant workplace. Under minimal supervision, this role provides day-to-day support for EHS programs, hazardous waste management, chemical inventory, and safety compliance. The EHS Technician helps identify and mitigate facility hazards, maintains accurate documentation, participates in safety committees, and supports emergency response activities. This position plays a key role in promoting a safe, compliant, and well‑organized work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 6+ years of experience working with hazardous chemicals or in an EHS‑related role.
  • General knowledge of hazardous waste and chemical handling requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, work instructions, Standard Manufacturing Procedures, and basic OSHA regulations.
  • Basic math skills suitable for a shop‑floor environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to write routine reports and documentation.
  • Ability to work with hazardous chemicals and wear protective equipment for extended periods when needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience conducting safety audits or participating in EHS programs.
  • Familiarity with environmental permitting processes.
  • Prior involvement in safety committees or emergency response activities.
  • Experience training employees or certifying operators (e.g., forklift).
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and demonstrated initiative in hazard identification and resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain inventory of chemical and flammable storage lockers; ensure chemical compatibility and timely removal of expired materials.
  • Ensure hazardous waste containers are properly labeled, stored, and maintained; manage satellite accumulation areas.
  • Support quarterly hazardous waste shipments, documentation, and coordination with external haulers.
  • Monitor and maintain permits related to environmental or operational equipment; notify EHS of renewal requirements.
  • Clean and monitor sink sumps and assist with ordering chemicals and maintaining updated operating procedures.
  • Identify, analyze, and help resolve safety hazards throughout the facility in collaboration with management and maintenance.
  • Assist with administering and auditing various EHS programs, including performing quarterly safety audits.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections (e.g., eyewash stations, fire extinguishers) and support evaluations of new equipment for potential hazards.
  • Monitor and maintain acid vapor scrubber, neutralization systems, and acid rooms.
  • Participate in EHS committees such as the Safety Committee and Emergency Response Team.
  • Assist in identifying, ordering, and maintaining PPE and safety supply inventory, including respirator cartridges.
  • Train and certify forklift drivers.
  • Serve as the Alternate Radiation Safety Officer.

Benefits

  • Hourly base pay range for this role is $24.08-$41.18
