About The Position

To provide a successful, safe and supervised educational setting for children while they are in the Head Start/Early Head Start environment (classroom, outdoor play area, and field trips). Encourage parent involvement in all aspects of the program. The Teacher will coordinate and implement curriculum designed to promote Head Start/Early Head Start School Readiness goals for children to facilitate transition into kindergarten. Must meet requirements per Federal Head Start Performance Standards and any local, state and/or agency policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) credential (must be obtained within 3 months of hire if not held at time of hire) for Early Head Start Teacher.
  • Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education (Pre K) or a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education (Pre K) or an Associate’s Degree or higher that includes coursework equivalent to a major in Early Childhood Education for Head Start Teacher.
  • Transcripts are required to validate educational requirements.
  • Infant/Toddler (ages 0-2) Classroom teaching experience is required.
  • Pre-school (ages 3-5) Classroom teaching experience is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, internet and e-mail.
  • Valid Missouri Driver's License and proof of insurance.
  • Must provide own vehicle for home visits.
  • Pediatric CPR & First Aid certification (within 30 days of employment).
  • Completed physical at hire and updated annually.
  • Currently enrolled in Child Care Division-Central Background Registry at time of hire and must renew every two years.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Early Childhood Development (ECD) for Early Head Start Teacher.
  • Two years of Infant/Toddler (ages 0-2) Classroom teaching experience is preferred.
  • Two years of Pre-school (ages 3-5) Classroom teaching experience is preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills highly desirable.
