About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to lead and support site-wide EHS initiatives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment in Shelbyville, Kentucky. This role is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, driving a proactive safety culture, delivering employee training, managing audits and reporting, and partnering with leadership to continuously improve environmental, health, and safety performance.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of EHS leadership experience in a manufacturing environment; plastics industry experience is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience conducting audits, investigations, risk assessments, and safety training.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS management systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Professional EHS certifications (e.g., CSP, CHMM, OH&S-related credentials) are an asset.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer all Environmental, Health & Safety programs for the Shelbyville plant.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state/provincial, and local EHS regulations.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Deliver EHS training, new hire onboarding, toolbox talks, and refresher training programs.
  • Maintain EHS records, training documentation, SDS management, and audit readiness.
  • Coordinate emergency response planning, drills, and preparedness activities.
  • Lead Workers’ Compensation administration and support return-to-work processes.
  • Facilitate Safety Committee meetings and promote employee engagement in safety initiatives.
  • Monitor EHS KPIs, prepare reports and presentations, and communicate performance updates to leadership.
  • Partner with plant leadership, supervisors, employees, vendors, and the global EHS community to advance safety and environmental goals.
  • Manage EHS-related supplies, PPE purchasing, and departmental budget responsibilities.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance workplace safety and operational excellence.
