Join our team today and help us build a better tomorrow, together. The EHS Specialist will provide hands on environmental, health, and safety leadership at our Chicago facility. This role will partner with employees and site leadership to strengthen our safety culture, identify and control workplace hazards, maintain regulatory compliance, investigate incidents, deliver training, and drive continuous improvement. The position will also provide EHS support to other company facilities as business needs arise, with occasional travel approximately 10%.

Requirements

  • 0-3 years of experience working in the Environmental, Health and Safety field with a degree preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards applicable to manufacturing operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with employees and management.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety or Health Sciences, or related discipline preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, enabling effective communication with Spanish-speaking employees and stakeholders preferred.
  • Familiarity with EHS software programs such as Alchemy, VelocityEHS, SDS Online, etc.
  • Familiarity with behavior-based safety programs, such as SafeStart, and experience in driving such programs is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) and experience in implementing VPP principles is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of health and safety policies, procedures, and programs specific to operations, in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Foster a culture of proactive safety by promoting continuous improvement, identifying areas for enhancement, and implementing proactive measures to prevent incidents.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and work areas to identify potential hazards related to manufacturing processes, machinery, and materials.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees and management on health and safety-related matters, addressing specific hazards and risks.
  • Participate in incident investigations and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of health and safety training programs for employees, focusing on hazards and safe practices.
  • Drive the behavior-based safety program, promoting a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating safety risks through employee engagement and observation.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and advancements in safety technologies to enhance the proactive safety efforts.
  • Maintain knowledge of Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) and utilize relevant principles and strategies to enhance the safety program.
