Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or related field (required).
  • 4–10+ years of environmental compliance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or similar setting.
  • Strong experience managing permits, inspections, and regulatory reporting.
  • Proven ability to lead environmental programs and initiatives.
  • Deep knowledge of environmental regulations (EPA, RCRA, CAA, CWA, TSCA).
  • Strong understanding of hazardous waste management and environmental permitting processes.
  • Ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them to operations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and root cause investigation skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in environmental data management systems and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, TCEQ, RCRA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act).
  • Manage environmental permits (air, water, waste) including application, renewal, and reporting requirements.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies during inspections, audits, and reporting processes.
  • Maintain compliance calendars and ensure timely submission of required reports (e.g., TRI, Tier II, stormwater reports).
  • Develop, implement, and maintain environmental programs such as: Hazardous waste management, Air emissions monitoring, Wastewater and stormwater management, Spill prevention (SPCC plans).
  • Drive pollution prevention and waste minimization initiatives.
  • Lead environmental audits and compliance assessments.
  • Support corporate sustainability initiatives including energy conservation, waste reduction, and carbon footprint tracking.
  • Identify opportunities to improve environmental performance and reduce operational impact.
  • Track and report environmental KPIs and performance metrics.
  • Conduct environmental risk assessments and ensure proper controls are in place.
  • Lead investigations of environmental incidents, spills, or regulatory non-compliance events.
  • Develop corrective and preventive actions and ensure completion.
  • Develop and deliver environmental training programs for employees and contractors.
  • Provide technical guidance to operations and leadership on environmental requirements and best practices.
  • Promote environmental awareness and stewardship throughout the site.
  • Maintain accurate environmental records and documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare internal and external reports, including audits, compliance status, and sustainability metrics.
  • Support ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) implementation and maintenance (if applicable).
