About The Position

This position assists the site Environmental, Health, Safety, Security, & Sustainability (EHSS&S) Manager in managing, implementing, and executing programs related to environmental compliance, workplace safety, occupational health, public health, loss prevention, security, emergency response planning, and sustainability initiatives. The role supports compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate environmental, health, and safety regulations while maintaining accurate records and documentation for inspections and audits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Public Health, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combinations of education, certifications, training, and relevant experience will be considered
  • Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of practical EHS experience in a manufacturing environment; candidates without a bachelor's degree should have at least five (5) years of relevant EHS experience
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations, public health principles, occupational health, industrial hygiene, workplace safety programs, and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, RCRA, hazardous materials management, exposure prevention, and employee health and wellness initiatives.
  • Ability to wear a full-face respirator on the job (as needed)
  • Ability to use Mathematics, Logic and Reasoning
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills
  • Comfortable with public speaking (small to medium-sized groups)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Tools and MS365 Apps

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Safety Professionals (CSP) credential preferred
  • Understanding of Chemistry and chemical properties is preferred
  • Possess a professional safety certification or ability to obtain one within the first six (6) months of employment
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing programs, policies, and compliance initiatives related to corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Develops and maintains a working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as corporate guidelines and policies; educates plant staff and helps ensure compliance.
  • Assists with creating effective training programs that satisfy Site needs and helps to improve understanding of all EHS requirements.
  • Provides training (formal and informal) to employees, supervisors and managers on safety policies and practices.
  • Supports hazardous waste (RCRA) compliance activities and assists with chemical waste management at the facility.
  • Supports initiatives related to environmental stewardship, occupational health, workplace wellness, public health, sustainability, and regulatory compliance to promote a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Provides EHS orientation for all new employees as well as all contractors and visitors.
  • Serves as an EHSS&S representative at the Site.
  • Works with the Employee Safety Committee at the site to enhance and maintain our culture.
  • Performs Gemba walks, inspections, and audits as required.
  • Assist with incident and injury investigations and perform root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Maintain a presence on the operations floor and provide feedback/coaching regarding unsafe acts and behaviors.
  • Communicates regulatory and corporate EHS requirements and expectations effectively to site personnel.
  • Assists in managing aspects of security for the Site.
  • Stays current on emerging EHS trends, industry best practices, and changes to regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work independently with some oversight as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned (including support of EHS activities on the off shifts).
