About The Position

We are currently seeking an experienced EHS & Process Safety Manager to be based at our Columbus, Ohio facility. This role will have some travel, estimated at up to 20%. Reporting to the Director of Environmental Health & Safety, this role is responsible for leading environmental, health, safety, and Process Safety Management (PSM) programs to protect associates, contractors, visitors, and company assets while fostering a strong, proactive safety culture. Working closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance Systems, Human Resources, and leadership teams, this role develops and implements strategic safety initiatives that reduce risk, prevent incidents, and ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State and local OSHA and EPA regulations, including PSM and Risk Management Program (RMP) requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Associate/Technical degree and at least five years of related EHS and PSM experience and/or training are required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have one or more of the following EHS professional certifications is required: CSP, GSP, PSM, RMP
  • In-depth knowledge of Federal and State OSHA and EPA regulations and compliance procedures.
  • Experience coordinating plant Health and Safety compliance and training programs.
  • Experience coordinating multi-site Process Safety Management compliance and training programs.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and processes while partnering with corporate and facility management groups.
  • Ability to work effectively with associates at all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to travel to other Company locations, estimated at up to 20%.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in EHS, Risk Management, or Process Safety preferred.
  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or warehouse environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment in manufacturing operations.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for EHS activities at our Groveport, Ohio manufacturing facility and our nearby Columbus, Ohio Distribution Denter, driving regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead and maintain all PSM and RMP compliance activities for both our Columbus, Ohio Distribution Center and our Cleveland, TN manufacturing facility, including Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), Mechanical Integrity (MI), Management of Change (MOC), Process Safety Information (PSI), Operating Procedures, Training, Compliance Audits, Incident Investigations, Contractor Safety, Emergency Response, and regulatory reporting. Ensure timely completion of required activities, closure of action items and ongoing compliance with OSHA PSM (29 CFR 1910.119) and EPA RMP (40 CFR Part 68) requirements.
  • Serve as the strategic owner of PSM and RMP programs for assigned facilities, providing governance, oversight, direction, and accountability for process safety performance, regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Promote and reinforce a proactive safety culture by partnering with facility leadership, supervisors, and associates to drive engagement, accountability, and safe work practices.
  • Develop, implement and continuously improve EHS, PSM, and compliance programs that reduce risk, prevent incidents, and ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, and other Federal, State and local regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and other hazard identification activities to evaluate operational risks and implement effective controls.
  • Develop, facilitate, and oversee safety, regulatory, and compliance training programs to ensure employee competency and completion of required training.
  • Lead incident reporting, investigations, root cause analyses, corrective action development, and follow-up activities for injuries, illnesses, near misses, property damage, environmental events, and process safety incidents.
  • Maintain EHS and PSM records, reporting systems, and databases, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant documentation and reporting.
  • Perform audits, inspections, and program assessments to evaluate compliance, identify improvement opportunities, and verify the effectiveness of EHS and PSM programs.
  • Develop and execute annual EHS and PSM strategic plans, goals, objectives, metrics and key performance indicators to drive continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance Systems, Human Resources, and other functional departments to ensure effective implementation, enforcement, and continuous improvement of EHS and PSM programs.
  • Coordinate and support industrial hygiene, occupational health, workers’ compensation, and return-to-work programs to ensure regulatory compliance and effective case management.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, including OSHA and EPA, and lead site support during regulatory inspections, audits, citation responses, and abatement activities.
  • Facilitate safety committees, employee engagement initiatives, and PSM awareness programs to strengthen workforce participation and ownership of safety performance.
  • Provide EHS and PSM leadership for capital projects, engineering modifications, facility expansions, and Management of Change (MOC) activities, ensuring risks are identified, evaluated, and mitigated prior to implementation.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching and oversight to site leaders and EHS personnel on PSM and process safety requirements, ensuring consistent implementation of standards, best practices, and compliance expectations across assigned facilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
