About The Position

Stepan is looking for an EHS&S Manager at our Elwood, IL facility. This role provides effective leadership to the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Department through effective management of the Department’s resources to ensure continuous improvement in EHS performance. The manager will prioritize and manage to protect people, processes, products and the environment from exposures to injury, risk or economic loss. This role partners effectively with internal departments to identify and implement process improvements for EHS programs. The manager will develop, deploy, and deliver EHSS behavior, safety culture and critical EHS leadership strategies and programs. This role oversees the site emergency response team that handles fire, hazmat, confined space rescue, medical, and other site emergencies. The manager will develop EHS staff through guidance, development planning, coaching, training and resource planning. This role also oversees and manages the sites Process Safety Management (PSM) system program such as PHA methodology and leadership including HAZOP and LOPA and other quantitative risk assessment methodologies; mechanical integrity (process equipment and design, inherently safe design and RAGAGEP, preventive maintenance, testing and inspection); programmable and safety integrated systems integrity; operating procedures and consequence of deviation management: emergency response and mitigating technologies such as fire prevention and protection; incident investigation and root cause analysis; facility siting; management of change; process safety information management; safe work practices.

Requirements

10 years of experience.
Proven experience establishing and managing EHS systems with a thorough knowledge of concepts, tools, and methodologies of EHS management.
Demonstrated outstanding collaboration and communication skills and leadership of cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated knowledge of Illinois and USEPA laws and regulations (air, wastewater, waste, DOT, and any other applicable regulations) and required reports
Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA VPP and ACC RCMS management systems.
Demonstrated knowledge of United States Coastguard MARSEC security regulations.
