About The Position

The EHS Manager coordinates facility activities related to environmental health and safety and security. The role develops and administers plant safety and environmental policies to ensure compliance with DRiV and applicable local, state, and federal regulations, and manages the Environmental Management System to support ISO 14001 and other relevant management-system requirements. The manager partners with supervisors and facility leadership to create, maintain, and improve safety systems, programs, and training, and forecasts and coordinates related operating and capital expenses. The position leads facility safety and environmental programs, audits, machine safety, investigations, industrial hygiene, risk assessment, workers’ compensation, EHS information systems, and EHS-related projects and contracts. It provides support to operations and may perform the duties of an EHS Lead as business needs require. The role includes 0–10% travel.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in EHS; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
At least 4–5 years of experience in Environmental, Safety and Health, including environmental regulations and OSHA standards.
Experience in a distribution center environment, or five years of Environmental, Health and Safety Management System experience.
Strong analytical ability.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities.
Excellent computer skills.
Knowledge of OSHA and ISO rules and regulations.
Knowledge of EPA and DOT rules and regulations.
Knowledge of machine safety, industrial hygiene, and LOTOTO.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work with PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
Ability to prioritize and work independently.
Maturity and ability to assist employees with EHS requirements.
Attention to detail and a positive, motivational attitude.
Ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

Perform the duties and responsibilities of the EHS Lead when required by business needs.
Manage the development and administration of facility safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with DRiV and local, state, and federal regulations.
Implement facility management systems and policies and support or coordinate ISO management reviews and activities.
Serve as the facility lead for audits conducted by the EPA, Tennessee OSHA, and other applicable government bodies.
Lead the machine safety program for legacy, modified, and new machinery in accordance with quality standards.
Support the operations team in leading and managing the safety program.
Expand workplace psychological and physical safety, including providing PPE, addressing individual concerns, raising awareness of injury avoidance and physical and mental health, and assisting with routine and non-routine task decisions.
Lead investigations of fires, chemical spills, gas releases, injuries, near-misses, and employee concerns.
Manage the Industrial Hygiene Program, as applicable.
Analyze risk assessments and make business decisions related to safety.
Oversee the site's workers’ compensation program.
Lead and assist in developing capital projects that support business strategies and corporate goals while ensuring safety and compliance; lead teams, manage budgets and project details, and support infrastructure changes and new testing capabilities.
Support facility EHS-related contracts, including security, and DRiV’s contractor compliance program.
Complete corporate second-party audits and support local plants as needed.
Manage EHS information systems, including EHS IS, TMSS, Pure Safety, EASE, ETQ Reliance, and ENHESA.
Review and update the EHS Compliance Calendar and take related action.
Carry out additional responsibilities as necessary.
