About The Position

As the Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHSS) Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for EHSS programs at our manufacturing site, helping protect our employees, support business performance, and advance Baxter's mission to save and sustain lives. You will drive a proactive safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and lead initiatives that strengthen environmental stewardship and operational excellence. This is where your expertise in EHSS leadership, risk management, and employee engagement will shape workplace safety, influence site-wide decision-making, and deliver meaningful results across the organization. Working closely with site leadership, operations, engineering, facilities, HR, and corporate EHSS teams, you will integrate safety and sustainability into daily operations, capital projects, and long-term business objectives. Success in this role is measured by strong safety performance, effective risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, and a culture of continuous improvement. The EHSS team is a key partner in ensuring Baxter employees can safely manufacture products that make a difference for patients around the world. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in EHSS, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field, including 2+ years of leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of EPA, OSHA, and DOT regulations and their application within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading risk assessments, incident investigations, compliance activities, and corrective action programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and enhance EHSS programs while influencing stakeholders across multiple levels and functions.
  • Professional certification such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, or a related EHSS credential.
  • Experience leading EHSS initiatives in a regulated manufacturing environment, including permitting, environmental reporting, and sustainability programs.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Experience developing EHSS strategies, managing budgets and external partners, and driving performance through data, metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead site-wide EHSS programs and strategies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Baxter standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement of EHSS management systems, including support for ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements.
  • Establish goals, performance metrics, and improvement initiatives that strengthen safety, environmental performance, and operational effectiveness.
  • Identify and mitigate workplace risks through assessments, inspections, industrial hygiene activities, and proactive problem-solving.
  • Lead investigations of incidents, injuries, and environmental events, implementing corrective actions that prevent recurrence.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate EHSS principles into processes, projects, equipment, and facility changes.
  • Chair site safety and emergency response committees while serving as a trusted advisor to plant leadership.
  • Oversee EHSS budgets, regulatory reporting, contractor relationships, employee training, and the development of EHSS team members.
