Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, safety management, engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience leading Environmental, Health, and Safety teams.
  • Strong leadership skills to guide and manage Environmental Health and Safety teams effectively.
  • Experience in writing reports and policies for environment, health, and safety.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel to other locations for site visits, workshops, audits, and specific projects.
  • Ability to conduct thorough investigations into health and safety incidents, determining cause and recommending preventative measures.
  • Proficiency in understanding and applying environmental health and safety laws and regulations at federal, state, and local levels.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify potential hazards, implement safety protocols and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience in risk management and mitigation strategies to minimize potential hazards and ensure employee safety.
  • Project management skills for coordinating and implementing safety training programs and initiatives.
  • External applicants must be authorized to work in the US without employment visa or other sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure planning, organization, and implementation of environmental, occupational health and / or safety programs according to local legislation.
  • Develop EHS strategies aligned with production goals and operational initiatives.
  • Steer the development and implementation of the EHS-systems including tools and guidelines.
  • Steer the provision of advice on EHS and support the development and implementation of safe and healthy working practices as well as environmentally friendly processes and products.
  • Steer the cooperation with external advisers and maintain relationships with regulatory and government agencies.
  • Monitor existing and potential EHS concerns, recommend priorities for resolution, develop remedial measures, and lead response teams for critical incidents.
  • Lead multi-plant EHS programs, ensuring consistency across facilities with different production lines or technologies.
  • Plan, organize and conduct EHS audits including analyses and documentation of audit findings.
  • Develop and monitor EHS training programs.
  • Conduct plant visits to ensure management systems are in place and responsive to concerns.
