Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Health or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong mentoring, training and coaching ability.
  • Strong knowledge of fire prevention programs.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of quantitative and qualitative methods for safety management.
  • Strong knowledge of safety auditing, accident investigation, and reporting.
  • Proven team player skills with ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data.
  • Available for travel (~10%) in relation to environmental, safety and quality system issues.
  • Valid driver's licenses with satisfactory driving record within Company required standard.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years’ experience in glass manufacturing.
  • Certified to instruct OSHA 10- and 30-hour courses.
  • Auditing skills/experience.
  • Experience with Title V Air permitting.
  • Six Sigma or other Lean Manufacturing Certification – Greenbelt or above.
  • Experience with Pollution Control Plants.

Responsibilities

  • Develop effective EH&S programs to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and to prevent occupational injuries and illnesses and environmental impacts.
  • Act as the Site's EH&S Management System Lead, working with the staff, leadership team, and workforce to improve performance.
  • Manage site activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including OSHA, EPA, DOT, others, including Title V air permit, RCRA Large Quantity Generator, SPCC, SWPPP and more.
  • Ensure correct and on-time completion of all regulatory or NSG EHS related reports.
  • Lead the Occupational Health Nurse and the EHS Specialist as necessary to ensure effective execution of the EH&S Management System.
  • Support the activities of the plant through effective communication with operations and/or outside agencies.
  • Coordinate the generation and reporting of accurate statistical measures of safety programs effectiveness consistent with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct industrial hygiene monitoring and develop appropriate control measures.
  • Promote employee safety activities involvement at all employment levels.
  • Introduce new safety policies and practices as they become necessary.
  • Assist engineering in the assessment and design of safe workstations and equipment.
  • In conjunction with the facility financial staff, coordinate annual budget activities and assure that accurate reports to management are produced.
  • Establish and maintain the facility safety procedures.
  • Coordinate OSHA compliance activities in conjunction with the corporate staff.
  • Provide regular reports to management regarding compliance status, the cost of compliance, and the results of inspections.
  • Participate in incident reporting, review reports for completeness and accuracy.
  • Follow-up on incident root cause identification and corrective action implementation.
  • Prepares the plant's "Emergency Action Plan".
  • Adherence to NSG Group Standards of Business Conduct and its Values and Principles
  • Facilitate the Site Safety Committee.
  • Work closely with the plant nurse.
  • Follow up on injuries and near misses reported to the First Aid Department.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.
