About The Position

The site EHS Manager provides safety, health, and environmental expertise to site leadership and leads the implementation of environmental, health, and safety processes and performance at the site to meet business and corporate objectives. This is a plant-based position in Kansas City, Kansas, with an expectation of working on-site at the facility. Work from home is at the manager’s discretion. Travel may be required but is very limited.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical or scientific field, or equivalent experience.
At least 7 years of experience in operations, maintenance, or R&D leadership, with responsibility for creating and implementing hard hat safety, behavioral safety, occupational health, and environmental programs and procedures.
Working knowledge of SHE and PSM systems.
Demonstrated functional and technical expertise in OSHA regulations and management systems, including confined space, line break, lock out/tag out, respiratory protection, and other safe work practices.
Ability to collect and analyze data, identify solutions, assess risk factors, and make sound decisions.

Responsibilities

Lead EH&S work processes and initiatives to deliver geographic and business performance expectations through local site EH&S and site leadership.
Develop strategic EH&S/ES&S environmental and regulatory strategies, performance improvement plans, and site goals.
Work with business technology center leadership to implement process safety performance improvement activities related to work practices or behaviors across the site.
Coordinate second- and third-party EH&S audits and lead severe incident investigations.
Collaborate with EH&S Sustainability, Business Services, and Ops Expertise Services, including Training/Learning and reliability, to provide seamless support for EH&S performance improvement activities.
Lead management system reviews across the site and use assessment and audit processes to drive continuous improvement.
Implement EH&S/ES&S management systems consistent with site and business interests.
Support local delivery of effective environment, health and safety, emergency services, and security programs that are compatible with local and country issues and culture.
Lead the Site EH&S Team and coach EH&S and site teams and individuals on EH&S issues.
Work with site leaders to identify and capture opportunities across the site and Protein Solutions Network.
