About The Position

This role is for an EHS - Health Specialist at Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA), which is Hyundai Motor Group's first dedicated EV mass-production plant. The specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing health policies and programs, managing workers' compensation claims, and coordinating ergonomic and musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) reduction programs. The position requires a strong understanding of OSHA regulations and aims to promote employee health and wellness while minimizing risks for the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing health programs in a corporate or industrial setting in compliance with OSHA requirements and programs.
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, problem solving and human relations skills
  • Strong organizational and systems implementation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in MS Office products.
  • Leadership coaching skills; investigation skills.
  • Strong command of the English language (written and spoken) is essential for safety, communication, documentation, and collaboration across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing health policies and programs to promote employee health and wellness in compliance with OSHA requirements and programs including ergonomic management.
  • Communicate with injured workers by providing compassionate and caring guidance as their advocate during the claim process.
  • Coordinate with claim adjusters to determine appropriateness and amount of worker's compensation claims, and to investigate individual claims for eligibility for workers' compensation benefits.
  • Assist supervisors in providing injured employees with alternative work assignments or creating light duty or restricted duty assignments whenever possible for injured employees.
  • Liaise between management, claim adjusters, outside counsel, and injured employees to manage return-to-work and minimize litigation risk for the company.
  • Monitor the status of claims and provide periodical reports to management.
  • Manage workers’ compensation claims from start to end and drive timely closure of the claims.
  • Collaborate with other members of the EHS team to identify and manage health risks in the workplace in compliance with OSHA requirements and programs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external health providers, vendors, and consultants to ensure the provision of high-quality health services in compliance with OSHA requirements and programs.
  • Monitor and evaluate employee health data to identify trends and develop strategies to address emerging issues in compliance with OSHA requirements and programs.
  • Develop and deliver training and education programs to increase employee awareness of health issues and promote healthy behaviors in compliance with OSHA requirements and programs.
  • Develop and operate all procedures and processes related to health management and PPE management for the company; selection of proper PPE, procurement of PPE.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and investigations to ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and programs.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate ergonomic and musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) reduction programs and projects to ensure compliance with State and Federal policies and guidelines.
  • Research and investigate new methods and tools; continuously conduct hazardous prevention and control processes; and recommend measures to protect Meta Pros from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
  • Using site ergonomic assessment tool, identify and assess all work posts/jobs and provide and maintain site ergonomic health rating/score.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents to identify ergonomic contributors and to determine how they might be prevented in the future.
  • Analyze Workers' Compensation injury data to identify potential problems and trends; recommend appropriate and reasonable engineering or work process modifications to prevent worker injury; summarize findings in written reports and provide follow-up assessment of ergonomic recommendations.
  • Develop and provide input to orientation training and ongoing departmental training programs pertaining to ergonomics and MSD injury prevention.
  • Work with onsite medical clinic regarding ergo related injuries, modified duty assignments and job restrictions.
  • Complete other duties that are assigned.
