Under the direction of the Site Manager, the Floater will prep and serve home-style meals for children in the Early Head Start program. This role will also assist with kitchen operations as needed, maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen area, relieve teachers during break periods, and serve as a classroom substitute as needed. The position requires performing according to the standards set forth by Head Start, NAEYC, CWLA, CACFP, USDA, Tennessee Day Care Licensing, and Porter-Leath. Key duties include prepping and serving meals, assuming primary caregiver responsibilities for a group of children (including those with special needs) when assigned, maintaining food and equipment inventory, assisting with reporting kitchen information, complying with health and cleanliness standards, and maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen area. The Floater will also act as a role model and mentor to families, keep the Site Manager informed of programmatic issues, and cooperate with other staff to create a positive environment. Other duties may be assigned as part of a team effort.
