About The Position

The Environment & Energy Manager is responsible for leading environmental compliance and driving operational environmental performance across Lindt & Sprüngli USA. This role serves as the site subject matter expert for environmental regulatory requirements and leads the identification, development, and execution of initiatives to reduce environmental impact. A key focus of this position is Scope 1 and Scope 2 energy performance improvement, including identifying, developing, and implementing energy reduction projects across manufacturing and facilities. The role also drives waste reduction initiatives, strengthens environmental management systems, and supports readiness for ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 aligned practices. This role partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Facilities, and cross-functional teams to ensure environmental compliance while embedding sustainable, data-driven improvements into daily operations.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulatory requirements
  • Experience managing environmental permits and regulatory compliance programs.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying and implementing energy efficiency and performance improvement initiatives
  • Experience with energy monitoring, energy efficiency, and utility data analysis.
  • Practical understanding of Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions sources and reduction strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret environmental and energy data to drive action.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and lead without formal authority.
  • High level of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field.
  • 3-7+ Years of experience in environment compliance, energy management, or industrial environmental performance.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Sustainable Energy Management, Environmental Management, or a closely related discipline strongly preferred, or equivalent advanced education/experience.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with all environmental permits and regulatory requirements, including air, water, wastewater, stormwater, and hazardous waste.
  • Serve as the company representative during environmental inspections, audits, and regulatory inquiries.
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve inspection, auditing, and self-assessment programs to ensure sustained compliance.
  • Interpret and implement local, state, federal, and corporate environmental standards at the site and business level.
  • Maintain documentation systems and processes to support audit readiness and regulatory reporting.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement energy reduction opportunities across site operations, utilities, and infrastructure (Scope 1 and Scope 2).
  • Identify and prioritize environmental improvement opportunities using data-driven methods.
  • Drive waste reduction initiatives including landfill diversion, recycling, and process optimization.
  • Develop and maintain environmental KPIs, dashboards, and reporting tools to track progress and performance.
  • Support implementation of best practices to reduce environmental impact and improve operational efficiency.
  • Lead the Environment Pillar, driving improvements in energy, water, and waste performance.
  • Manage environmental data related to energy, water, waste, and emissions to ensure accuracy and integrity.
  • Define, implement, and continuously improve environmental management system elements aligned with ISO 14001 principles.
  • Support development of energy management system practices aligned with ISO 50001 standards.
  • Ensure integration of environmental requirements into site processes, procedures, and training programs.
  • Drive standardization, documentation, and continuous improvement of environmental processes across the site.
