The Lake Forest, CA facility specializes in zinc and aluminum die casting, advanced automation, and in-house tooling to deliver millions of high-quality parts annually. The EHS Engineer is responsible for executing Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives in the plant to ensure compliance with Dynacast policies and procedures as well as legislative requirements. The EHS Engineer will participate in developing the health and safety culture for all employees with support from the EHS Manager, Safety committee and HR dept.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in environmental and safety fields
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding and application of legislated safety regulations and requirements.
  • Knowledge of EHS Management systems including ISO 14001.
  • Familiarity with ergonomics principles and assessments.
  • A self-motivated individual with the ability to work with high level of accuracy and attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications such as CSP, CHMM, or CIH are a plus
  • A background in die casting an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the deployment of Dynacast's Safety culture
  • Perform regular risk assessments/audits to identify safety risks and put corrective actions in place to control those risks, ensuring follow up and sustainability of actions
  • Prepare reports based on EPA, DTSC, local CUPAs, fire departments, water boards, and other regulatory agencies' guidelines
  • Participate in the PPT (Pollution Prevention Team) for stormwater compliance, monitoring and maintaining requirements per Dynacast's SWPPP
  • Coordinate and manage Hazardous waste removal in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Coordinate the monitoring of wastewater in compliance with Dynacast's industrial permit
  • Submit AER (Annual Emission Reports)
  • Complete TRI (Toxic Release Inventory) reports
  • Complete HMBP (Hazardous Materials Business Plans) and submit on CERS
  • Complete OCFA G4 packets
  • SCAQMD reporting and permit management
  • Execute activities in alignment with the Company's ISO 14001 system with support from the Quality team
  • Participate in the Safety Committee, schedule meetings, prepare agenda, and follow open items to conclusion
  • Provide support in handling issues arising from OSHA
  • Maintain Safety training program and promote safety awareness
  • Assist in the investigation of accidents or near misses, complete a root cause analysis and coordinate required support to correct the hazard
  • Prepare EHS metrics and KPI's on a monthly or as-needed basis including corporate ESG reporting
  • Other duties may be assigned.
