Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, industrial hygiene, or environmental related discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience in EHS in Manufacturing environment
  • Or a combination of education, experience and/or training.
  • Familiarity with Management Systems Auditing/Implementation

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements general environmental and safety policies and procedures to be followed by company personnel in compliance with local, state, regional, and national safety and health rules and regulations.
  • Consults with all departments on design and use of equipment, fire prevention and safety programs.
  • Lays out manufacturing workspace to optimize safe working environment.
  • Formulates appropriate environmental, health and safety policies and guidelines.
  • Inspects or tours facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards.
  • Recommends corrective or preventative measures where indicated.
  • Keeps managers and employees alerted as to the hazards of working with toxic fumes, dangerous chemicals, and any other hazardous substances.
  • Develops training programs and communications to increase proficiency in safe practices and promote safety consciousness.
  • Participates in accident/injury investigations.
  • Maintains environmental, health and safety files and records.
  • May report to management on health and safety issues and concerns.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments with a cross-functional team to evaluate and mitigate risk throughout site.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific emergency response plans (ERPs) in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local regulations
  • Oversee the proper labeling, segregation, and handling of hazardous chemicals and waste in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal policies and coordinate hazardous waste disposal activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team to gather evidence, conduct interviews and analyze data related to incidents.
  • Develop and implement electrical safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA and NFPA-70E and other electrical standards.
  • Supports all company environmental, safety and quality programs and initiatives.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
