About The Position

The Director, EHS – Last Mile Operations is responsible for the strategic leadership, governance, and execution of safety and health programs across last mile operations, including transportation, transloading, field logistics, equipment staging, and customer site interface activities. This role provides executive-level oversight of operational risk management, regulatory compliance, safety culture development, and performance improvement initiatives. The Director partners directly with Operations leadership to embed safety as a core operational discipline and is accountable for measurable reduction in high-potential incidents, and operational risk exposure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related discipline required. Or
  • 12–15+ years progressive EHS experience in oil & gas, drilling, completions, logistics, with a 4-year degree in any discipline.
  • Minimum 7–10 years leading safety professionals in field environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in operational safety leadership, including hazard recognition, field risk mitigation, incident investigation, regulatory compliance, audit oversight, and emergency response management within industrial or field-based operations.
  • Proven leadership and communication capabilities, with the ability to influence senior leadership, drive organizational change, and effectively engage cross-functional stakeholders across operations and safety teams.
  • Strong business and operational management acumen, including experience managing budgets, allocating resources, and aligning safety programs with operational risk priorities and business objectives.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) strongly preferred; CIH or CHMM considered advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the EHS strategy for last mile operations, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives, operational risk tolerance, and long-term business performance goals.
  • Establish, communicate, and maintain annual safety performance targets, including TRIR, DART, severity rates, vehicle incidents, and high-potential events, with clear ownership and accountability across operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement through leading and lagging indicator analysis, leveraging trend data, near-miss reporting, and field observations to proactively reduce operational risk.
  • Provide executive-level reporting and risk visibility to senior leadership, delivering actionable insights on safety performance, exposure trends, and mitigation strategies.
  • Integrate safety performance management into operational planning and decision-making, ensuring risk considerations are embedded into fleet, logistics, and field execution processes.
  • Lead structured performance reviews and corrective action governance, ensuring gaps are identified, root causes addressed, and sustainable improvements verified.
  • Promote a data-driven, accountability-based safety culture, reinforcing leadership engagement, transparency in reporting, and measurable reduction in high-consequence risks.
