About The Position

As an EHS Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and compliance of our laboratories, research spaces, and operational areas. Your contributions will directly support our goal of maintaining a safe work environment while following federal, state, and local regulations. In this role, you will coordinate with various departments to support day-to-day safety needs, conduct facility safety inspections, and manage corrective actions. You will also be instrumental in coordinating quarterly safety committee meetings. Reporting to the EHS Director, you will be a key player in our safety initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience -or- high school diploma or equivalent experience with a minimum of two years of working experience.
  • Good understanding of laboratory safety, chemical safety, and general safety practices.
  • Ability to learn new material quickly and adapt to changing situations.
  • Capability to make decisions and work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient computer skills (Windows software) and general working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and daily responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with laboratories, research spaces, and operational areas to support daily safety needs.
  • Carry out safety inspections at the facility and handle corresponding corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and take part in quarterly safety committee meetings.
  • Stock GHS and Hazardous waste labels and PPE.
  • Inspect containers and drums for grounding/bonding and procedural compliance.
  • Manage Universal Waste.
  • Participate in Health and Safety Inspection processes.
  • Join the Spill Response team.
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly inspections and reports.
  • Conduct periodic testing of processes that discharge.
  • Manage chemical inventory and ordering.
  • Monitor workplace safety conditions for compliance with EH&S regulations and standards.
  • Partner with the Safety Specialist to implement EH&S policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Maintain EH&S records, forms, and documents.
  • Stock EH&S supplies throughout the company.
  • Perform monthly checks on emergency equipment (eye-wash/safety-shower, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting).
