About The Position

Applied Materials is seeking a safety coordinator at the TSMC account in Phoenix, AZ. The focus of this role will be on non-manufacturing/non-lab environments through the planning, implementation, and maintenance of a robust safety management system and strategy. This role provides leadership to ensure compliance with US EHS/Occupational Health laws, regulations, customer requirements, and ensures alignment with Applied Materials global directives and policies. The safety coordinator will ensure the health and safety of our field organization personnel working at TSMC.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Health, Safety, Environmental Sciences or related scientific technical field.
  • Minimum of three (3) plus years of experience in Environment, Health, and Safety
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety principles/regulations and Health Standards.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate authoritatively, both orally and in written format
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have people skills that include ability to coach, mentor, and influence.
  • Computer proficiency with MS Office and related software programs.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, mentor, and assess performance of Safety Representative team.
  • Coordinate and assist efforts of the subcontractor safety representatives on site.
  • Conduct daily safety walks to identify hazards and communicate and document actions required.
  • Assist in on-boarding of new hires, loan labor and I-team employees, as a supplement to the CSSR process.
  • Audit PTPs and assist in generating PTP’s (Pre-Task Plans) as needed for specific tasks and operations.
  • Perform incident investigations or operational learning events as needed and provide written documentation on context and findings to the EHS and management teams.
  • Develop relationships and communicate with the various customer (safety) ISEP members as needed for remedies needed in fab.
  • Track CSSR and SWA reporting weekly.
  • Work with AMAT site manager and EHS to manage compliance to corporate, Customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in the Site Safety Champion meetings and assist in activities as needed.
  • Assist in conducting routine (daily or weekly) toolbox safety meetings in large and small team group settings.
  • Track and assist in hands-on trainings and mentorship program within the account team.
  • Support efforts in Human and Organizational Performance philosophy and their application.
  • Support the Gensuite platform and case management for reporting incidents and action tracking.
  • Ensure the EHS AGS-FT operation complies fully with all National/Local Environment, Occupational Health and Safety regulations and Applied Materials EHS Policies and Standards.
  • Support implementation of EHS programs designed to minimize employee exposure to workplace stressors for the TSMC NA.
  • Represent company during inspections, audits and EHS compliance.
  • Manage and maintain EHS recordkeeping systems to track incidents, training, and actions.
  • Execute on specific strategic actions to drive performance improvements and alignment to overall global strategy for NA AGS.
  • Communicate EHS issues to all necessary management and employees.
  • Assist in generating necessary reports and documentation including compilation of safety trends and metrics on EHS performance and communication of key metrics.
  • Interface with customers on any EHS concerns with products and services.
  • Collaborate with customers to ensure minimum safety standards are met while working at customer’s facilities.
  • Represent Applied Materials EHS in customer meetings and respond to inquiries or escalations at customer sites.
  • Ability to be a change agent, to lead effective change management within the EHS and AGS organization as new programs are developed and rolled out.
