About The Position

The Environmental Health and Safety Assistant is responsible for performing a variety of duties to support the Company. This includes coordinating work and communication within the department and with other departments, reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor, and responding to inquiries or requests for information. This position is classified as safety sensitive and requires compliance with all company safety policies and procedures, including drug- and alcohol-free workplace requirements. Successful candidates will be subject to pre-employment, random, post-incident, and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient reading, writing, grammar, organizational, and mathematics skills.
  • Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills.
  • Proficient PC skills, including Internet, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, Teams, etc.).
  • Demonstrated coaching skills.
  • Visual and auditory skills.
  • Ability to stand, sit, bend, reach, climb, and lift items weighing 40 lbs. or less.
  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle requiring a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery, power tools, or equipment.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights or in confined spaces.
  • Ability to handle hazardous, volatile, or flammable materials.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a related position preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate accidents/incidents, including going to the incident location, investigating the cause, taking photos, documenting details, completing proper reporting, meeting with rig personnel, and following up with the insurance company.
  • Perform on-site safety inspections and observations by conducting random inspections in the field.
  • Attend mandatory safety meetings and communicate pertinent information to management and employees.
  • Issue safety equipment to employees.
  • Review, record, and update training records, permits, etc. using formulas and spreadsheets as well as other databases.
  • Coordinate specific work tasks with other personnel within the department and with other departments to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
  • Abide by current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed to promote an environment free of harassment and illegal discriminatory behavior.
  • Cooperate with, participate in, and support adherence to internal policies, procedures, and practices for risk management, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Report pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested or on an established schedule, compiling information and providing data to appropriate personnel.
  • Respond to inquiries relating to their area or from customers/personnel within given time frames and policy.
  • Perform ancillary duties that are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job.
