About The Position

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which is responsible for developing Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. The mission involves building sustainable infrastructure for transporting crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface, contributing to safe and repeatable space flight. As an EGSE Hardware Development Engineer, you will join a small, multi-functional team to design, build, and commission Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) for a support vehicle to the Mk2 Lunar lander, which will facilitate astronaut landings on the moon. Working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, you will develop hardware crucial for vehicle integration, test, and launch operations, ensuring multiple safe and successful lunar landings. The ideal candidate will apply technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight, driven by a passion for the company's mission and vision.

Requirements

  • B.S. in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or related technical field
  • 5+ years of applicable experience
  • Experience designing circuit card assemblies, test cable harnesses, and equipment enclosures
  • Ability to lift and install cabling, junction boxes, and other electrical equipment
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience with electronic test equipment (multi-meters, oscilloscopes, loads, network analyzers, BERT, DAQ, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or related technical field
  • 8+ years of applicable experience
  • Experience with spacecraft, aircraft, or launch vehicle integration and test
  • Experience with Rational DOORS and Rational Quality Manager
  • Experience with Creo, Altium, AutoCAD Electrical, and/or Windchill PDM

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of individual racks and other equipment from requirements definition to design, build, test, and operation
  • Support EGSE procurement efforts
  • Collaborate with software engineers to integrate hardware control and communication systems
  • Work with vehicle subsystem engineers and electrical test engineers to understand EGSE needs
