The T-38 Egress Technician maintains aircraft egress systems including Martin-Baker US16T ejection seats, canopies, hatches, and modules; explosive components; subsystems; Personal Survival Pack (PSP), and all related Support Equipment (SE). This role involves performing operational and functional tests of egress systems, subsystems, and components using test equipment and test kits. The technician ensures egress explosive Cartridge Activated Devices (CAD) and Pressure Activated Devices (PAD) are safe and disarmed prior to performing maintenance, and performs integrity inspections of the escape system. Responsibilities include inspecting egress systems, subsystems, and components for safety, security, and serviceability, and determining the serviceability of CAD and PAD devices based on shelf and service life limits. Corrosion control procedures are applied to escape systems and related components, and related Support Equipment (SE) is operated and maintained. The technician advises on and solves installation, maintenance, and repair problems by studying schematic and technical publications, diagnoses malfunctions, and recommends corrective action. Maintenance and safety policies for egress systems are implemented. The role utilizes automated maintenance systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, document maintenance actions, and manage a time change database. Hazardous waste and materials are used and disposed of according to environmental standards. The technician may be required to perform maintenance on aircraft, including avionics, mechanical systems, and/or ground support equipment, and may include Designated System Inspector (DSI) duties. Maintenance is documented as per Quality Assurance (QA) and established regulatory requirements. Regular Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walks are performed, and strict tool control procedures are maintained. Missing, lost, found, or unattended tools are reported to the supervisor. Tools are inventoried and inspected regularly, and worn or broken tools are replaced. Safety rules and regulations are complied with during day-to-day maintenance, and all accidents, injuries, safety violations, and/or unsafe practices or procedures are promptly reported to the supervisor. Equipment records are maintained, and the maintenance records include a description of the work performed and verification that the work was performed satisfactorily. The Egress technician will be required to perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
