About The Position

The EFFC Case Aide provides support and supervision for family time between parents and children, siblings, and other significant resources. This role involves providing transportation, visit coaching to foster healthy family engagement, and completing documentation in Connections within 7 business days. The Case Aide collaborates with the case planning team on Permanency Hearing Reports and court documents, and assists in gathering vital documents for families. They also accompany and support children and parents through various appointments, assist families with public assistance processes, and provide referrals. The position requires meeting with families in their homes and communities, intervening in crisis situations, attending and testifying in court, and participating in interdisciplinary team meetings. The Case Aide is a mandated reporter and meets regularly with their supervisor to discuss caseload issues. Effective communication and collaboration with internal SCO foster care support staff and external agencies such as NYC Children’s Services, medical and mental health centers, and schools are essential. Adherence to SCO’s personnel policies and performance of other assigned duties are also required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Approved background clearances and fingerprinting are required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Basic computer literacy skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Valid NYS Driver License required

  • Be flexible in their ability to work extended hours or irregular schedules in response to the program’s needs. Be willing to travel between the various EFFC offices and other agency sites, as required.

Responsibilities

  • Support and supervise family time between parents and children, as well as siblings and other significant resources. Provide transportation as needed.
  • Provide visit coaching between parents and children to support healthy family engagement.
  • Complete ongoing documentation in Connections with 7 business days of the event date.
  • Work in partnership with the case planning team on completion of Permanency Hearing Reports and court documents as it pertains to the Case Aide’s communication, contact, and collaboration with the family.
  • Support case planning staff in gathering or obtaining vital documents such as birth certificates, social security cards, etc.
  • Accompanying and supporting children and parents through various appointments including school, medical, and drug treatment, etc.
  • Support families through the Public Assistance process, PATH process, and provide referrals, as needed.
  • Meet with families in their home and/or community, as needed.
  • Intervene in crisis situations to help the child and family stabilize.
  • Attend and testify in court appearances, as needed.
  • Attend all interdisciplinary team meetings and actively provide information regarding services being provided to the child.
  • Fulfills duty of Mandated Reporter, which entails reporting any suspected instances of child abuse or maltreatment.
  • Meet with Supervisor one-on-one on a consistent basis to discuss safety and permanency issues of caseload.
  • Communicates and work effectively with SCO foster care support staff such as Case Planners, Socio-therapists, Fair Future Coaches and Education Specialists, Parent Advocates, and medical and mental health staff and with NYC Children’s Services, outside medical and mental health centers, schools, consultants, other SCO programs, and all other relevant parties.
  • Adheres to SCO’s personnel policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
