About The Position

Here at Fairview, we are now seeking an EEG Technologist to join our team at St John's Hospital in Maplewood, MN! We're currently looking for a flexible, reliable individual to join our team in a casual, on-call role. This unique position is ideal for someone who values schedule flexibility while making a meaningful impact during off-hours coverage. We are specifically looking for applicants that have Neonatal experience for monitoring babies. This role consists primarily of on-call hours, with compensation provided for availability and additional pay incentives when called into work. During off-hours coverage, EEG studies may be ordered to support Neonatal unit care, requiring timely response and collaboration with clinical teams. This position is well-suited for individuals who are dependable, responsive, and comfortable working independently during evenings, nights, and weekends when needed. The EEG Tech performs non-invasive neurodiagnostic testing from neonate to geriatric population. Determine the extern/mode of testing which yields the highest quality and quantity of recording data for doctor's interpretation. This is to include but not limited to EEG's, Evoked Potentials, Intraoperative Monitoring, and 24 hour/long-term video monitoring.

Requirements

  • Basic computer skills, experience with digital EEG, and medical terminology skills
  • R.EEG.T eligible, will consider current students in Neurodiagnostic program, on the job training if they are in a sleep role or completed prior on the job training. ABRET or
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross) Ability to provide written validation of current basic life support competency or ability to obtain written validation within 30 Days

Nice To Haves

  • Neonatal experience for monitoring babies
  • A.A./A.S. in Neurodiagnostic Technology
  • 1 year of Electro-neurodiagnostic experience
  • R.EEG.T Registered by ABRET American Board of Registration Electroencephalograpahic and EP Technologists ABRET

Responsibilities

  • Thorough understanding of equipment operation, safety, and limitation as it relates to all equipment used in the scope of neurodiagnostic. Recognize and implement corrective action when necessary. Initiate service calls as necessary.
  • Ability to assess data and interpret descriptive information as it is provided to the surgical physician and anesthesia.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of surgical environment.
  • Perform Evoke Potentials (neuro pathways of the visual, auditory, and upper somatosensory studies)
  • Ability to assess medical history and clinical findings specific to the modality studied.
  • Stay current with ASET journals, continue CEU when available and attend lectures provided by our own Educational Medical Staff.
  • Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
  • Partners with patient care giver in care/decision making.
