About The Position

AMI Expeditionary Healthcare LLC (AMI) is seeking skilled and dedicated EEG Technicians to support the Greater Los Angeles VA Healthcare System (VAGLAHS). The EEG Technician will provide specialized neurodiagnostic services in support of the Clinical Neurophysiology Laboratories at VAGLAHS. This role involves performing a wide variety of diagnostic and monitoring procedures, including routine EEGs, long-term monitoring, stereo EEG (sEEG), electrocorticography (ECoG), evoked potential studies, and intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring support. This position offers the opportunity to work with advanced neurodiagnostic technologies while contributing to exceptional patient care for our nation's Veterans.

Requirements

  • Current EEG license from any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
  • College or School for Clinical Neurophysiology & EEG: 2 year course or Bachelor of Science (BS).
  • Board Qualification at the least, Diplomate of the American Board of registered EEG preferred technologist or have documented experience of having performed at least 200 EEGs, documented experience in Long Term Monitoring and ICU readings, and/or completed all course offered by ABRET online.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be U.S. citizen
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Ability to successfully complete the AMI credentialing process.

  • Experience performing neurodiagnostic studies in a hospital or clinical setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and specialized neurodiagnostic studies, including EEG, long-term monitoring, telemetry, stereo EEG (sEEG), electrocorticography (ECoG), and evoked potential testing (ABR, VER, SSEP/SEP) in accordance with physician orders and established protocols.
  • Monitor patients throughout testing and promptly recognize and respond to clinically significant changes requiring intervention.
  • Apply electrodes using the International 10-20 Electrode Placement System, utilizing collodion and other approved methods to ensure proper placement, impedance, and signal quality.
  • Configure, operate, and troubleshoot neurodiagnostic equipment, including Nihon Kohden systems, to optimize waveform acquisition and recording quality.
  • Support invasive EEG monitoring, intraoperative neurophysiology, and neurosurgical procedures while making technical adjustments based on patient needs and physician requirements.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance, calibration verification, and technical troubleshooting, collaborating with biomedical engineering as needed.
  • Accurately document studies and procedures in the electronic medical record, including VA systems such as CPRS, while maintaining compliance with HIPAA and VA regulations.
  • Utilize appropriate methods for interacting effectively and professionally with persons of all ages and from diverse cultural socioeconomic, educational, racial, and ethnic, sexual orientations, lifestyles, and physical abilities.
  • Deliver targeted, culturally appropriate information to help individuals and groups understand health promotion and disease prevention information, policies, regulations, and local code.
