About The Position

Performs electroencephalography (EEG) brainwave testing that assists the Neurologist to establish a diagnosis and treatment plan for the patient.

Requirements

  • HS Graduate or Equivalent
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Records
  • significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity
  • Significant occupational risk
  • May exert up to 50 lbs. force
  • Significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or higher in a related field
  • Previous experience performing EEG/Ambulatory EEG/video EEG testing
  • Registered EEG Technician from ABRET or ASET

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine and STAT on-site EEG and ambulatory EEG testing of patients ranging in age from infant to adult utilizing critical thinking skills and best practices.
  • Performs video EEG testing of patients ranging in age from pediatric to adult utilizing critical thinking skills and best practices.
  • Uploads and transfers data from ambulatory EEG tests into the database to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the data.
  • Communicates with the Neurologist about the status of patient tests including any barriers or observed abnormalities.
  • Performs quality control (QC) to achieve best possible test results per accepted standards.
  • Educates patients and care givers on the testing process and answers any questions or concerns to promote patient compliance and satisfaction.
  • Acts as a liaison to contracted call staff and colleagues at other institutions to facilitate testing and interpretations during off hours.
  • Provides new employee orientation and acts as a resource for new and/or contracted staff.
  • Communicates effectively to other members of the healthcare team regarding patients and their tests.
  • Orders and maintains supplies related to EEG testing.
  • Maintains a database of patients served by the EEG department.
  • Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
