About The Position

Serving one million patients and their families annually, advancing medical knowledge, technologies and practices, and developing and educating the next generation of exceptional health care professionals, this role is within a major epilepsy center. The main role of the reviewer will be to assist epilepsy faculty in Electroencephalogram (EEG) reading and documentation. The position would allow for clinical exposure working in a clinical care team specializing in epilepsy. This person would have an epilepsy faculty as a primary supervisor but would also work with all other epilepsy faculty. They will be trained by the epilepsy faculty with escalating responsibilities based on comfort of the supervising faculty. The EEG reviewer will not have any direct patient contact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or other related field required
  • Familiar with EEG and medical terminology
  • Ability to use computer software programs and systems
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding patient information
  • Excellent organizational skills to work independently, prioritize, handle multiple tasks and manage time
  • Compliance with departmental Health and Safety policies and procedures

Nice To Haves

  • Prior technical or clinical EEG experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Completes educational modules provided by supervising faculty including familiarizing with EEG terminology and EEG characteristics.
  • Attends to all mandatory training by supervising faculty.
  • Reviews EEG, mark and record findings from the raw EEG record for final review by epilepsy faculty.
  • Initiates EEG reports based on provided templates.
  • Reviews of reports with epilepsy faculty for accuracy and document into the electronic patient charts under the guidance and directive of the epilepsy faculty.
  • Accesses electronic health records for chart review for the purposes of collecting data for EEG report writing under the guidance and directive of the epilepsy faculty.
