About The Position

This position is for a Regular Full-Time Educational Technician in the Biology department at the Main Campus. The role involves maintaining the biology laboratories, managing equipment and supplies, and assisting with laboratory instruction. The position is fully in-person and will remain open until filled, with a recommended application deadline of 6/4/26.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology
  • Two years experience related to the operation of a biology lab, preferably in an academic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain clean, safe, and systemized order in the biology laboratories and supply rooms.
  • Order and maintain an inventory of all equipment and supplies for the biological sciences laboratories.
  • Recommend needed budgetary items for operating and capital budgets.
  • Maintain purchasing files and records of budgetary expenditures.
  • Provide for the safe storage of supplies and for the security of supplies and department equipment.
  • Assemble and prepare equipment and supplies to be used in laboratories for lab experiments and demonstrations.
  • Care for and feed all plants and animals kept in the biology labs.
  • Demonstrate use of special equipment or techniques to students and part-time faculty as needed.
  • Repair and maintain broken or damaged equipment; arrange for repair of equipment by outside agencies as necessary.
  • Maintain library of laboratory manuals, instrument manuals, and reference books.
  • Supervise activities and prepare schedules of departmental work-study students.
  • Assist in laboratory instruction where appropriate.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
