About The Position

The Educational Team Leader - Hildreth School is responsible for supervising and evaluating Special Education Staff for the PAWS Academy. This role involves close collaboration with Principals/Directors on Special Education Staffing, including assisting with hiring. The position coordinates out-of-district placements, serves as Chairperson for Team meetings, and oversees the referral and Team meeting process, ensuring adherence to Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and all federal and state requirements. The leader is responsible for meeting all timelines and completing required paperwork, ensuring the implementation of services for students with special needs. Additionally, this role assists with the oversight and scheduling of special education paraprofessionals and behavior technicians within buildings, organizes monthly special education staff meetings, and provides professional development to staff on instructional practices, accommodations, modifications, and service provision. The Educational Team Leader ensures compliance with Massachusetts DESE Coordinated Program Review Standards and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution
  • DESE Certification as Special Education Administrator or as a Director/Supervisor with Special Education Teacher License and SEI Endorsement
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Special Education Teacher or equivalent
  • Ability to organize, work well with people, direct, supervise, evaluate and motivate others to get results
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Massachusetts and federal special education laws, regulations, eligibility criteria and ability to implement the special education process to ensure compliance
  • Knowledge of Individualized Education Programs and related IEP software programs
  • Possesses thorough working knowledge of nature and complexities of a variety of learning disabilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with all school personnel and parents

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and evaluates Special Education Staff for PAWS
  • Works closely with Principals/Directors on Special Education Staffing, including assisting with hiring
  • Collaborates with the Director of PAWS Academy
  • Coordinates out of District placements for the District
  • Serves as Chairperson for Team meetings
  • Oversees referral process, Team meeting process, and adherence to Individualized Education Programs
  • Ensures that all timelines are met and all required paperwork is completed within mandated timelines
  • Ensures that all services for students identified as special needs are implemented
  • Assists with the oversight of the distribution of special education paraprofessionals and behavior technicians within the buildings
  • Oversee and ensure scheduling/assignments of paraprofessionals and behavior technicians within the buildings as per student IEPs
  • Organize and facilitate monthly special education staff meetings in buildings
  • Provide professional development activities and in-service training to staff regarding instructional practices, accommodations, modifications and provision services to students
  • Ensures adherence to Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) Coordinated Program Review Standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent, Director of PAWS, Director of Special Education, and/or building administrator/supervisor
