About The Position

The Part Time Educational Talent Search Program Coordinator at Gary Comer Youth Center is responsible for overseeing and implementing the Educational Talent Search program. This role focuses on identifying and assisting individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in higher education. The coordinator will manage program activities, provide guidance to participants, and ensure compliance with federal regulations to enhance educational opportunities for students.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in educational program coordination or a similar role.
Proven experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds.
Experience in developing and implementing educational programs or initiatives.
Familiarity with the challenges faced by first-generation college students.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively with a team and independently.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and educational software.
Demonstrated ability to develop partnerships with schools and community organizations.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing environments.
Commitment to promoting educational equity and access.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement program strategies to identify and recruit eligible participants.
Coordinate and conduct workshops, seminars, and counseling sessions to support participants' academic and career goals.
Maintain accurate records of program activities, participant progress, and outcomes.
Collaborate with schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to promote the program and recruit participants.
Provide individualized support and guidance to participants, including academic advising, financial aid assistance, and college application support.
Monitor program compliance with federal guidelines and prepare necessary reports for funding agencies.
Organize college visits, career exploration activities, and other enrichment opportunities for participants.
Evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvements.
Assist in the preparation and management of the program budget.
Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages student engagement and success.
