The Educational Diagnostician will represent assessment at Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) committee meetings, assess students consistently, and report the results to the ARD committee. This role ensures that state eligibility files on special education students are properly maintained and kept up to date, adhering to federal and state laws, as well as district policies, procedures, and regulations. The position requires compliance with the rules of the State Board of Education regarding handicapped students and assessment guidelines published by the Texas Education Agency. The diagnostician will serve as a liaison with community agencies and resources to provide services to handicapped students, and assess students in a manner consistent with federal, state, and District guidelines within the required timelines. They will compile and write accurate and complete multidisciplinary assessment reports for new referrals, three-year re-evaluations, and transfer students, and present assessment results, conclusions, and recommendations for classroom strategies and modifications to the ARD committee in easily understandable terminology. The role involves writing effective Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) based on comprehensive assessment data, ensuring IEPs are reviewed annually and students are re-evaluated at least every three years. The diagnostician will coordinate and conduct ARD committee meetings, appraise campus and related service personnel of assessment and ARD meeting dates, and ensure the integrity and confidentiality of state eligibility folders, preparing necessary reports. Support for campus staff on Special Education policy updates is also a key function. Attendance at the work site is required to meet essential functions of the job.
