About The Position

The Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) is seeking an Educational Consultant to collaborate with the Texas A&M University Graduate School in providing professional development and instructional support for graduate students and Teaching Assistants (TAs). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in educational development, teaching and learning best practices, and instructional support for graduate education. As a key member of the CTE, this individual will work in a highly collaborative and dynamic environment, engaging with various teams and departments that support graduate student training, educational development, and teaching effectiveness initiatives. Responsibilities include designing and facilitating professional development programs, creating instructional resources, and supporting graduate students and TAs in their roles as educators and researchers. A successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, experience in instructional development, and a commitment to fostering graduate student success. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Three years of experience in one or more of the following areas: college or university-level teaching, assessment and evaluation, course and instructional design, interdisciplinary teaching and learning, curriculum, educational research, and/or digital learning with some supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, coordinates, implements, and assesses educational development programs to meet the needs of the University.
  • Analyzes program data and statistics for reporting, tracking progress, and adjusting programs.
  • Offers, facilitates, and delivers, in multiple formats, educational development opportunities and related events.
  • Conducts educational development programs on site at campuses outside of College Station.
  • Models best practices of educational development as demonstrated by peers internal and external to the university.
  • Assists with the creation of programmatic processes, procedures, and resources.
  • Produces institutional-level resources to aid in the creation of scalable high impact practices and transformative learning opportunities for students.
  • Extends consulting and outreach efforts to mentor graduate students and future faculty, building strong professional relationships that support their growth as effective instructors.
  • Collaborates with colleagues on creating, revising, and implementing effective educational development tools.
  • Assists in developing strategies and policies regarding teaching and learning.
  • Models ethical consulting practices.
  • Conducts, contributes to, and disseminates research on national dialogues and publications related to educational development, teaching, and learning.
  • Assists in developing strategies regarding teaching and learning.
  • Assists and collaborates with faculty and other educational developers on grants and research projects in discipline(s) and in the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) and graduate student professional development.
  • Facilitates learning communities related to teaching and learning.
  • Serves and participates in university task forces.
  • Mentors graduate students and future faculty through relationship-building and consultation, supporting their development as reflective, student-centered instructors.
  • Promotes the practice of scholarly teaching and effective practices for educational development.
  • Brokers relationships and partnerships with other units, internal and external to the university.
  • Contributes to the unit's strategic plans, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Advocates for, leads, and facilitates change that aligns with the unit’s and university’s strategic focus areas.
  • Mentors and supervises graduate and undergraduate students working in the Center.
  • Develops, enhances, and implements annually, a personal professional development plan by assessing personal knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Participates in programs (workshops, conferences, etc.) and research to enhance job skills and to support a personal professional development plan that increases knowledge and expertise in the field of educational development as well as English Language Proficiency.
  • Enhances facilitation skills via experience and observation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
