About The Position

Assist the ESY teacher providing support services to qualifying K-8 students.

Requirements

  • Must be Orton Gillingham trained and/or familiar with specific student intervention and educational needs regarding transition and implementation of behavior support plan.
  • Previous experience with students with special needs.
  • Two years of college, associate's degree or passing score on a para-professional exam in reading, writing and math as required by federal law.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed, but basic, written or oral instructions in English.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisor(s), staff, students, parents and community.
  • Ability to read English and other designated languages as required, and comprehend curriculum materials through grade 12.
  • Ability to write clear and concise communications in English and other languages as required.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisor(s), staff, students, parents and community.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisor(s), staff, students, parents and community.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
