About The Position

The Educational and Employment Specialist (EES) works as part of a multidisciplinary team and is responsible for coordinating client care within the team and with community partners. This includes evaluating the strengths and needs of clients; identifying lifestyle goals collaboratively with clients and team members; and providing case management interventions that target engagement and increase social supports around education and employment goals. The EES is expected to provide services to clients in both the office and in the community (homes, schools, libraries, etc.).

  • Knowledge of County, State, and Federal requirements for documentation and reporting, including Medi-Cal/Medicare standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize tasks, and effective time management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team, maintain professional working relationships, communicate respectfully during disagreements, and contribute positively to team functioning.
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Valid California Drivers’ License with a clean driving record
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and ability to type 45 WPM.
  • Four years of experience providing mental health rehabilitation and/or case management services to youth or young adults with serious mental health challenges OR two years of direct service experience in early psychosis program preferred

Responsibilities

  • Meet regularly with assigned clients and their families at the office site and in the community.
  • Conduct educational and vocational assessment interviews with clients and parents to develop educational and vocational care plans.
  • Assist clients in attaining educational and vocational goals.
  • Provide evidence-based interventions for supported educational and employment attainment such as the IPS model.
  • Assist clients with general care management such as accessing needed services that may include medical, benefits, employment, education, housing, etc.
  • Collaborate closely with schools, employers, and community partners.
  • Make referrals to other community and mental health agencies as appropriate.
  • Maintain records within 72 hours of each client contact or service, in accordance with mandated quality assurance standards for Medi-Cal and Medicare billing as well as in compliance with County Behavioral Health documentation standards.
  • Meet all deadlines and comply with agency's documentation requirements and productivity standards.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Attend and contribute to team meetings and case conferences, providing client updates, discussing clinical issues and exchanging ideas.
  • Attend all scheduled training courses and follow requirements to maintain competency in evidence-based practices, as indicated.
  • Engage in outreach events, including psycho-educational presentations, open houses, and provide information about early intervention for psychosis to other mental health providers and general public as needed.
  • Support perform administrative tasks as needed (i.e. chart completion and review, paperwork, etc.).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
