About The Position

This is an opening for a 0.5 FTE Educational Administrative Assistant position located at Integration Station School. The incumbent will perform a full range of administrative support and secretarial duties to support the instructional program, assisting school administration, teachers, and overall school operations as assigned. Specific responsibilities may include serving as a receptionist, composing correspondence, organizing files, maintaining student records, assisting with the special education process, and potentially serving as an Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Principal or Director of Counseling. The role also involves supporting instructional staff, performing attendance, registration, and finance tasks, and potentially dispensing medications to students.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, supplemented by coursework in business and office practices
  • Minimum of two years of responsible clerical experience, preferably in an education‑related setting.
  • Excellent human relations skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across all levels, including colleagues, students, parents, and the public, in a courteous and tactful manner.
  • Demonstrated excellence in business English grammar, spelling, and punctuation, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of business and school office procedures, practices, and equipment, as well as business English and standard office terminology.
  • Knowledge of the operation, uses, and capabilities of computer equipment and APS‑utilized software systems (e.g., Synergy, Frontline, and STARS+), along with strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and related applications.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a full range of entry‑level to fully proficient administrative support and secretarial duties to support the instructional program, assisting school administration, teachers, and overall school operations as assigned.
  • Serve as receptionist; greets all visitors, answers phone, distributes mail, etc.
  • Composes routine correspondence: may prepare information and presentation packets as needed.
  • Organize and maintain files.
  • Maintain complex student records.
  • Assist the special education process.
  • May serve as the Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Principal or Director of Counseling.
  • Support specific instructional staff.
  • May perform Attendance, Registration, and STARS Finance tasks.
  • Ability to dispense medications to students when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
