About The Position

University Hospital Beachwood Rehab is seeking an Education/Wound Nurse Coordinator (RN) to join their team. This role is vital in making communities healthier by providing exceptional care. The position focuses on prioritizing employee well-being to enable the delivery of exceptional care to others. The Education/Wound Nurse Coordinator will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of education programs, including the clinical orientation of new employees. They will also develop the annual hospital-wide Infection Control Plan, evaluate its effectiveness, and report findings to leadership and committees. Additionally, the wound nurse will provide leadership and direction for the coordination and improvement of Wound Ostomy Care (WOC) services, including the development of policies, procedures, guidelines, standards of care, and research.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
  • Current state licensure as Registered Nurse.
  • CPR/BCLS certification.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience planning, coordinating, evaluation and/or directing educational activities of clinical personnel.
  • At least 2 years of current experience in the specialty is required.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS preferred.
  • Wound Ostomy Care Nurse (WPCN) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of education programs including clinical orientation of new employees.
  • Develops the annual hospital wide Infection Control Plan; evaluates the effectiveness of the program and reports findings to leadership and appropriate committees.
  • Provides leadership and direction for coordination and improvement of WOC care, including development of policies and procedures, guidelines, standards of care and research.
  • Meets all competencies required for registered nurse.
  • Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates education programs and orientation of staff, students, volunteers and contracted nursing staff.
  • Uses independent judgement to plan, create, implement and execute training content and programs.
  • Serves as clinical education resource on current practices and procedures within the hospital.
  • Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs.
  • Evaluates progress and outcomes.
  • Communicates employee observations and suggestions related to opportunities for improvement and staff educational needs.
  • Complies with regulatory and accreditation standards.
