About The Position

The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony is seeking a Full-Time Education Tutor – One-on-One to join their team in Reno, Nevada. This onsite position focuses on providing personalized tutoring sessions to American Indian students from grades K through 12, under the guidance of the Education Advisor and Education Manager. The role involves delivering individualized academic assistance to foster growth and development in a supportive, customer-focused culture that values problem-solving skills and integrity. The organization aims to make a real difference in students' lives and contribute to their educational success within the community, honoring tribal traditions and values.

Requirements

High school diploma required; associate's degree preferred.
Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with students, staff, teachers, and parents.
Experience in helping students with chronic absenteeism, academic challenges, or behavioral issues is highly advantageous.
Familiarity with educational software or tools that aid in tracking student progress and submitting weekly reports.
Ability to engage with the Tribal Education Advisors.
Strong academic skills in Math, English, History, and Reading.
Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with Indian students, staff, teachers, and parents.

Nice To Haves

Associate's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Tutor students in Grades K-12 during the After-School Program, with an emphasis on Mathematics, English, and Reading.
Work with Tribal Education Advisors, Student Family Advisors, and Truancy Officer on referrals for one-on-one tutoring.
Submit weekly reports to the Education Advisor.
Participate in monthly Education Staff Meetings.
Participate in other educational related activities.
Provide one-on-one tutoring for students with chronic absenteeism, academic failure, behavioral issues, and truancy.
