About The Position

Serves as a professional level clinician to conduct and interpret developmental evaluations and assessment activities with children and their families. Works with a multidisciplinary team to develop and monitor plans as needed. Provides case coordination for special needs children and their families. Provides home and school observations as needed for families. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work, communicate, and collaborate effectively with families, co-workers, schools and community agencies. Applies sound principles of data-based decision making to all aspects of practice. Demonstrates sensitivity and skills needed to work with families, children and staff from various cultures and backgrounds. Ability to drive for satellite clinics, provide trainings and support groups to the community. Provides internal trainings to the staff and mentors new staff members. Provides coaching and guidance with case coordination for educational and training specialist II to ensure quality care for children identified with special needs and their families/care providers. Reviews and interprets evaluation and assessment results provided and maintains appropriate records consistent with program requirements. Provides appropriate developmental outcomes and strategies for families and/or professionals working with assigned family. Coordinates client services and referrals to community agencies. Consults with other team members and community providers to ensure continuity of care. Provides home and school observations, as needed, for families. Designs, develops and delivers various trainings and support groups, applying best practice models, to families and professionals within our catchment area. Reviews trainings put together by the educational and training specialist II prior to training being given by team member(s). Coach families and care providers on strategies and techniques needed for the special needs child/family in order to meet outcomes. Attends clinical staff meetings, as needed, providing input regarding patient case management needs. Attends other divisional meetings, as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area
  • Six years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work, communicate, and collaborate effectively with families, co-workers, schools and community agencies.
  • Ability to apply sound principles of data-based decision making.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and skills needed to work with families, children and staff from various cultures and backgrounds.
  • Ability to drive for satellite clinics.
  • A Lvl 2 DCF Background Check is Required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in special education or closely related degree
  • BCaBA or BCBA preferred
  • Experience providing trainings and running support groups
  • Supervision experience
  • Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder
