The Education Training Coordinator roles include those of a practitioner, educator, leader, researcher, and consultant. As a knowledgeable practitioner, the Orientation Coordinator demonstrates positive behavior and the ability to perform ongoing clinical assessment of the patient, establishes and implements a plan of care and evaluates the outcome of that care, utilizing the nursing process. As an educator, the Orientation Coordinator demonstrates behavior which includes assessing the orientation and educational needs of all levels of nursing staff, establishes and implements plans, and evaluates orientation and educational outcomes. As a leader, the Orientation Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the mission, vision, and values of the Meridian Health System are integrated with all aspects of the orientation and staff development structures and processes. As a researcher, the Orientation Coordinator utilizes the research process to promote quality patient care and to promote evidence-based practices related to staff development, orientation, and education. As a consultant, the Orientation Coordinator collaborates with nursing staff and managers to maximize the effectiveness of all aspects of the staff development enterprise.
