Tacoma Public Schools is seeking an Education Support Professional for Special Education Success at Edna Travis Elementary. This is a 0.875 FTE position, meaning the employee will work 7 hours per day plus a 30-minute duty-free lunch, totaling 7.5 hours "on campus". The role involves assisting a certificated teacher with instructional and personal care needs for students with a broad range of disabilities, including medically fragile, orthopedically impaired, developmental, physical, and/or behavioral. The position provides academic interventions and may include assisting students with activities of daily living. This position requires completion of the state-mandated General Paraeducator Certificate, which involves 28 hours of training on the Fundamental Course of Study provided by the district, and earning a general certificate by completing ten days (70 clock hours) of professional development training. The position is for 183 work days over a 10-month period.
