About The Position

This position is open to Alaskan Residents only. The position may be in Anchorage, or Juneau, depending upon the location of the most qualified candidate. It is essential that the selected candidate is willing and able to relocate to one of these locations to fulfill the job requirements effectively. In this role, you will coordinate the implementation of State Board of Education strategic priorities and key K–12 initiatives across teams, programs, and divisions. You will support statewide strategic planning by tracking initiatives and monitoring performance to ensure alignment with department goals and continuous improvement efforts. You will prepare legislative reports, board briefings, presentations, and executive level materials that synthesize education policy, program information, and student outcome data. You will also help administer state and federal K–12 grants, ensuring accurate applications, reporting, procurement coordination, and compliance. Additionally, you will analyze education laws, regulations, and guidance to inform implementation planning, strengthen program alignment, and support data driven decision-making for Alaska’s schools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college and four years of professional experience in education, one year of which was as a staff advisor/specialist, administrator, supervisor or consultant in planning, developing and maintaining standards and evaluating educational and vocational curricula or educational programs in a specialized field.
  • Five years of public education experience, as a teacher and preferably as an administrator.
  • Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, methods, and practices of planning, teaching, and evaluating an assigned K-12 public education content area.
  • Ability to integrate best practices with subject matter expertise to develop resources, inform policy implementation, provide technical assistance, and support continuous improvement.
  • Ability to provide guidance and consultation to school districts and/or stakeholders while advancing statewide educational priorities.
  • Uses knowledge that is acquired through formal training or extensive on-the-job experience to perform one's job; works with, understands, and evaluates technical information related to the job; advises others on technical issues.
  • Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Alaskan Residents only.
  • Willing and able to relocate to Anchorage or Juneau.
