The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. This is an FLSA Non-Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
  • Doula certification and Childbirth Education Teacher certification.
  • Five years’ full-time experience as a birth doula, supporting birthing families through all stages of pregnancy, prenatally through postpartum (in person and virtual).
  • Experience as a Childbirth educator.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and/or Google Docs and Zoom.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR/BLS certification.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing expectant parents for labor, birth, and early parenting through comprehensive, evidence-based education.
  • Teaching classes, providing emotional support, and empowering parents with the knowledge and skills they need for a positive birth experience.
  • Planning, developing and implementing Childbirth education classes.
  • Evaluating, designing, and training all Stony Brook Doulas.
  • Performing administrative tasks related to Childbirth education classes and the Doula Program.
  • Assisting with training support for aspiring doulas.
  • Coordinating the doula team for comprehensive prenatal, labor, and postpartum support.
  • Providing program doula support.
  • Serving as a doula liaison for the program directors.
