About The Position

The Education Specialist assists faculty, Department Leadership, and Education Program Leadership. This individual is expected to exercise initiative, exhibit organizational skills, and use problem solving and decision-making skills to perform tasks. The Education Specialist will work in conjunction with faculty to develop educational materials/courses/programs for the Department or Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. This role will work within the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and will focus on supporting PhD students in Arizona and working with the master's program at an Enterprise level. The role drives operational excellence, academic compliance, and student success through high judgment, autonomy, and strong execution. This position is a combination of remote and on-site work; individual must live within driving distance to the Phoenix Mayo Clinic campus. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 or more years of experience in education, business or health related field
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work with minimal direction
  • Proven ability to support development of education and training programs
  • Demonstrated strong skills in communication, problem solving and decision making
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team supporting students, new employees and/or faculty
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Mastery of the policies and procedures related to education and training programs
  • Database experience and systems knowledge
  • Adaptable and flexible in a changing work environment where constant learning and skill enhancement is needed
  • Excellent writing and editing skills for preparation of professional correspondence, meeting agendas and minutes
  • Ability to independently compose correspondence including letters, e-mails and announcements that are sensitive, confidential, and diplomatic

  • Proficiency with technology and software to enhance classroom learning and manage program data
