About The Position

This position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient centered care by administering and delivering foundational educational programs across the organization. This could include oversight of the BCLS Program, and credentialing of new BCLS instructors. Oversees additional learning and development programs supporting staff growth. This position ensures staff have the tools necessary to provide safe patient care in a method in line with the Mercy Touch.

Requirements

  • Prior experience teaching adults required.
  • Associates degree or healthcare related certification (Paramedic, RN, LPN) is required.
  • Current licensure or certification as appropriate for profession required.
  • Current AHA BCLS Instructor certification required.
  • Current AHA Instructor Trainer or Faculty status or ability to obtain within six months of hire or transfer required.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum two years clinical experience desired.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, community health education or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Understand basic principles of adult education.
  • Deliver basic training to end users.
  • Maintain certification or skill required to teach assigned content.
  • Serve as education resource to the organization.
  • Communicate with members of various levels within the organization.
  • Accurately assess the end user population and training they will receive based on role.
  • Manage training schedules and resources to meet organizational demand.
  • Serve as a support function on the floor.
  • Coordinate various training sessions with available resources.
  • Administer the BCLS Program in accordance with AHA Training Center Standards, including course delivery, instructor credentialing, certification tracking, and equipment maintenance.
  • Oversee and administer the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) program, including enrollment, learner support, scheduling and outcome tracking.
  • Follows Mercy's safety guidelines, carries out job-specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly reports any unsafe conditions, situations, incidents and injuries.
