About The Position

Create a safe, stimulating and supportive learning environment providing instruction to adults with diverse learning needs. The Education Resource Specialist provides responsive, courteous, and professional customer service. This position will work with the Continuing Education Team to generate and maintain Continuing Education learning targets/outcomes and instructional materials that facilitate active learning. Must demonstrate expertise in differentiating instruction and knowledge about IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act). Monitors program activities in relationship to established program goals; ensures alignment with established program parameters and tailors programming accordingly. Will collaborate with Adult and Higher Education division team members, community stakeholders, and educational partners to support and execute special projects and events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, and/or secondary discipline.
  • Three (3) years teaching in Adult and Higher Education.
  • Two (2) years of experience relating to special education.
  • Familiarity with GED and high school graduation requirements.
  • The ability to work some evenings, early mornings, and weekends as needed.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word and Outlook), internet resource navigation, Zoom, and general office equipment use.
  • Proficient in multiple graphic generating programs such as Canva.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technology issues in collaboration with Muckleshoot Tribal College, Muckleshoot Indian Tribe Information Technology department, vendor representatives, and local colleges and universities.
  • Knowledge of adult learning styles, including those of diverse learners.
  • Knowledge of course design, teaching methods and techniques.
  • Ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information, including maintaining compliance with FERPA regulations.
  • Ability to develop and adapt teaching methods to meet individual needs.
  • Ability to follow protocols to administer appropriate assessments for individuals.
  • Ability to complete work tasks as part of a team and independently, including taking initiative, and collaborating with different departments/institutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with diverse groups and individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and implements culturally relevant curriculum, lesson plans, and educational programs for student audiences within areas of expertise.
  • Thoughtfully plans and implements specific strategies to meet the needs of all students, providing extra support, accommodations, or modification of curriculum when necessary.
  • Works, in partnership, with other Tribal departments to offer culturally relevant workshops.
  • Position will include community outreach efforts that inform and promote program offerings to staff, potential students, community partners, Tribal officials, and outside organizations.
  • Works closely with educational partners to monitor student progress, outcomes, and to advise/implement culturally relevant courses/assignments.
  • Provides ongoing advocacy for students, faculty, and staff in Continuing Education. May do so by attending conferences, meetings, community engagement activities, etc.
  • Implements established program objectives; instructs students in face-to-face classes, as well as virtual classes.
  • Communicates with students, Continuing Education team, and partners to provide guidance and evaluation to encourage student achievement.
  • Assists students in preparing for GED test; administers GED practice tests; reviews and discusses results with student; determines if any additional instruction needed.
  • Provide responsive quality customer service in-person and online, over the phone, and via email to prospective and continuing students, faculty, staff, and the general public, related to Testing, Continuing Education, trainings in Adult and Higher Education.
  • Demonstrate multicultural competence (including an awareness and understanding of historically underserved populations) and create an educational environment that affirms commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. As a complement to any DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) initiatives, this position will also contribute efforts to indigenizing curriculum, policies, and overall initiatives in Adult and Higher Education.
  • Actively listen and exercise independent judgment and critical thinking skills to determine the needs of students and others served.
  • Creates, Maintains and operates student records, implements Laserfiche. Maintains student records and produces reports for management.
  • Other duties as assigned.
